January 2006

  1. It's Your Call Sunday

The ELCIC encourages congregations in our church to designate Sunday, January 15, 2006 as It's Your Call Sunday to emphasis the substantial need for ordained and lay diaconal ministers. During the worship service, each member of the congregation will be asked to nominate those individuals who they think should consider that God is saying to them It's Your Call. Pastors or other leaders in the congregation will follow up with those nominated to ask if they can forward their names to the Synod Office as a possible future candidate for ordained or lay diaconal ministry. 1. From the Bishop

In his Christmas message the bishop shares, "My vision for this church is that we can receive Jesus as Mary did and allow him to lead us into mission for others. It is a vision I share with members across this church. I hope you share it too."

The complete text of the Bishop's message is posted as well as a video Christmas greeting (.ram file), recorded in Manger Square in Bethlehem.

  2. Parish Helps

The Treasurers Information Booklet has been prepared for the benefit of the congregational treasurers. It provides general information only on a variety of subjects that the treasurer will need to know. The Booklet is updated annually for any legislative changes, policy changes, government remittances and payroll remittances for group benefits.

Each congregation is mailed a copy of the current treasurer's booklet by mid-December of each year. The booklet is now also available in .pdf format, readable with the free Adobe Acrobat viewer plugin for your internet browser. More

Looking to give an unforgettable gift for Christmas this year? Give your family and friends gifts they won't forget! Make a donation to GHDA and send along a special card to the gift recipient to let them know how their gift will help give A Christmas For Others. More
