LWF Volunteers: an excerpt from a letter received at ELCIC National Office from LWF: " In reviewing evaluations…[of] volunteers, many participants gave stars and exclamation points, and numbers higher than the highest number on the evaluation scale. People have returned home to all parts of the world with memories and stories of the wonderful hosting provided in Winnipeg and in the communities which were part of the visitation program."

Parochial Report: n. 1. an accounting of members, finances, and activity requested once a year of every ELCIC congregation. 2. the church secretary's/pastor's annual nightmare 3. a flurry of phone calls to try and pin down who did what when and gave how much this past year 4.hours and hours of work in triplicate that gets mailed off only to reappear needing updating 12 months later. 7. reams of paperwork, sometimes illegible, received by Synod office staff which must then be re–entered into a computer and published as a Yearbook n. a collection of static information often out–of–date before publication.
Could we redefine Parochial Report? n. 1. a short time spent annually by a church staff member using Lotus database software to prepare the report and send it off electronically to Synod office. 2. Information base for a correct and updated national webpage of information accessible to all congregations at the click of a computer mouse.
Using Lotus software congregational staff could enter, throughout the year, all the information that the report requires. The database would do the rest of the work–collect, total and report, using a pre–designed form that can be electronically shared with the synods and national church. Do you have a computer and an Internet connection? Order your software from Teledisc at 1.800.575.3200. More information at http://www.teledisc.com/products.htm
Some of the resources mentioned are available from the ELCIC national office. If you prefer to order those materials in print, phone 1.888.786.6707 extension 177 or 204.984.9177; email firstname.lastname@example.org; or fax your order to 204.984.9185 "Attn Orders Desk".
