ELCIC Global Mission (GM) is continuing the Mission & Missionary Sponsorship program in its present format. Sponsorship donations and contributions to the world mission general fund provide over 80% of the financial support needed for the three existing ELCIC long-term missionaries as well as Patagonia Mission and Amazon Mission. New ELCIC compensated missionaries in joint placements with ELCA GM will also be included in the ELCIC GM sponsorship program. All donations for ELCIC Mission & Missionary Sponsorship and global mission in general will continue to be made in Canada and receive Canadian charitable donation receipts.
Through the ELCIC GM Mission & Missionary Sponsorship program, participants help provide financial and prayer support for long-term compensated missionaries or local mission pastors and develop closer ties with them. This is an opportunity for members of the ELCIC to join in partnership with a particular missionary or local mission pastor and their work.
The Mission & Missionary Sponsorship program is for individuals, groups within congregations, congregations, clusters of congregations, or conferences. All options are open to everyone. There are also recommendations provided which take factors such as a missionary’s personal connections and the companion synod relationships into consideration.
