A NEWS RELEASE
From the Office of the Bishop
Winnipeg, March 15, 2002, (ELCIC) -- The Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada (ELCIC) is asking poets and musicians to submit hymns and songs for potential use in new worship resources that are being developed for use in Canada and the United States. “A broad variety of genres and styles, both musical and textual, is welcomed,” says Rev. Karen Johnson-Lefsrud.
“The Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada is participating in Renewing Worship, a multi-year, five-phase process, undertaken by the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, designed to produce the generation of worship resources which will succeed Lutheran Book of Worship,” explains Rev. Andre Lavergne, one of two coordinators for ELCIC + Renewing Worship. Lutheran Book of Worship has been in use in Lutheran churches in Canada and the United States since 1978.
“As part of the Renewing Worship, process, a New Hymnody editorial team is seeking submissions of original congregational song,” says Rev. Karen Johnson-Lefsrud, the other coordinator.
Submissions must be received by Rev. Johnson-Lefsrud by June 24, 2002. Specific details may be obtained on the Web at www.worship.ca and clicking on the main-page link to ELCIC + Renewing Worship, or by contacting Rev. Johnson-Lefsrud.
