Structural Renewal Resources

In October 2009, ELCIC National Bishop Susan C. Johnson sent a letter to all Rostered Leaders of the church providing an update on the work of the Structural Renewal Task Force. Included with the letter was a bulletin insert that could be shared with congregational members. As well, a video message from the Bishop has been developed. Please consider how you can share this message with others in your congregation. Some suggestions include:

  • Print the bulletin insert and distribe a copy to every member mailbox in your church.
  • Include a copy of the bulletin insert in your worship bulletin.
  • Share details of the letter and/or bulletin insert during the annoucements.
  • Include a copy of the bulletin insert or portions of the text in your congregational newsletter.
  • Email a link to the bulletin insert and/or video message to all your congregational members and highlight the importance of this work.
  • Place the Bishop's video message before worship service.
  • Share highlights of the message at your next congregational council meeting.

Other Ways You Can Help:

  1. Pray for our church and the Task Force. May God will guide us to a new model of being church, equipping us to live out our vision to be a church In Mission for Others.
  2. Participate in the process. Encourage the members of your congregation and your colleagues to participate in the process as well.
  3. Share this message as widely as possible. Using the bulletin insert or video message, communication information in your congregation’s newsletter, share information during worship, put on your church website, and ask for time on the agenda of your clergy cluster - these are just a few suggestions on how to engage others in dialogue around this issue.
