Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada’s (ELCIC) National Bishop Susan C. Johnson urges members to pray for all who have been affected by the recent devastation in Lebanon and to support relief efforts.

On Thursday, July 30, the ELCIC joins in lifting up World Day Against Trafficking in Persons. This international day was proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly in 2013, the same year the ELCIC National Convention committed to addressing human trafficking. 

National Bishop Susan Johnson, Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada (ELCIC), and leaders from the Anglican Church of Canada (ACC), The Episcopal Church (TEC), and the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) have prepared a series of devotions to observe the Season of Creation 2020, Sept. 1–Oct. 4.

In a letter to the church, ELCIC National and Synod Bishops acknowledge that, “racism is within us and within our communties.” The leaders call on all congregations and members to commit to doing the hard work and change our ways of thinking and our actions that demean and hurt, “We need to listen, learn, hear the stories, stand alongside of, speak up, speak out, and stand up against injustice.”
