Young Adults in Global Mission
Young Adults in Global Mission (YAGM), operated by the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), invites young adults ages 21-29 into a transformative, year-long journey in international service. As they offer themselves in service, young adults are shaped by the witness of our global neighbors.
Young adults who are members of the ELCIC are eligible to apply for the YAGM program.
YAGMs serve in the spirit of accompaniment, walking alongside global companions in a manner that practices mutuality, interdependence and solidarity. They share in the journeys of companion churches and organizations, providing critical support to ministries and projects in communities of need.
Applications for the program open on December 1 and are due February 15 each year, for service beginning that same August. Further information on the application process, financial considerations, and program expectations are available here.
Annual YAGM Program
An arrangement between the ELCIC and ELCA Global Mission allows for one ELCIC participant each year.
The total cost for one young adult in the program is $15,000 USD. Each young adult is tasked with raising a minimum of $5,000 to help support their year of service. The ELCIC commits to raising the additional $10,000 per volunteer through generous congregations and donors. If more than $5,000 in gifts is received, the additional funds will be help to support other young adult volunteers and ensure that there is a sustainable source of revenue for future the Young Adults in Global Mission program.
You can support YAGM by visiting the ELCIC donation page (select “Young Adults in Global Mission (YAGM)”).
