CLWR, ELCIC launch emergency appeal for crisis in East Africa

The ELCIC joins with Canadian Lutheran World Relief in an emergency appeal to help with the crisis in East Africa.

The Government of Canada has just announced a new $5 million matching fund to help with the response to the quickly worsening crisis in East Africa.

Conflict, climate change and hunger are putting lives at risk in countries such as Somalia and Sudan. The ELCIC and CLWR call on our members to pray for those suffering, and to give generously in support of the needs of all those affected.

Your donation this month will be matched by Canada’s International Development – Global Affairs Canada, doubling the impact of your compassion. Please give today: clwr.org/eastafrica

Individuals and congregations wishing to support relief efforts can donate as follows:

– Make a designated offering for “Crisis in East Africa” through any ELCIC congregation

– Call CLWR at 1-800-661-2597 (locally at 204-694-6502) to donate or go online to clwr.org/eastafrica

– Send a cheque made payable to CLWR and mailed to CLWR, 400-185 Carlton St, Winnipeg, MB R3C 3J1. Please indicate that you wish to contribute to “Crisis in East Africa”
