Statement from National, MNO Synod leaders
Following the announcement from the Manitoba Government of the discovery of potential human remains at the Prairie Green Landfill site, Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada (ELCIC) National Bishop Susan Johnson and Manitoba/Northwestern Ontario (MNO) Synod Bishop Jason Zinko have issued a statement calling for prayers, and to continue the call for justice for all MMIWG2S people.
Letter to the church on non-binary safety; asking all to join in prayer, learning, speaking out
National and Synodical Bishops of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada (ELCIC) have written a letter to the church on non-binary safety. In the letter, dated February 11, 2025, the leaders ask all to join in praying, learning, speaking out, advocating for 2SLGBTQIA+ rights, and provding safe spaces and opportunities.

MNO Synod Bishop Jason Zinko re-elected
Delegates to the MNO Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada have re-elected Rev. Jason Zinko as Synod Bishop on the first ballot.
Zinko received 59 votes out of a possible 76. A total of 57 votes were required for election.
