The Middle East is where the events of the Bible happened.

Today, Israel, Palestine and the Middle East yearn for peace.

The ELCIC enjoys a deep relationship with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Jordan and the Holy Land (ELCJHL). While relatively small in membership, the ELCJHL offers a strong witness for peace in midst of the tension, violence and complexities of life in Middle East. The ELCJHL works in partnership with Canadian Lutheran World Relief (CLWR) on several projects, and is a Global Mission Companion to the ELCIC’s Eastern Synod.

On the 24th of each month, the National Bishop invites members of the ELCIC to join people around the world in a prayer vigil for peace in the Middle East.

The Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada, together with the Anglican Church of Canada, lift up the Seventh Sunday of Easter as Jerusalem and the Holy Land Sunday.
